It's unfortunate that, here we are into October now, and my friends are all talking about going to the beach today

No, I'm not rubbing it in anyone's face (on purpose) or bragging. I'm lamenting the transition into fall, or really the
lack of a transition. Los Angeles hasn't bothered to do one damn thing to indicate we're in a different season now.
I've spent most of my life in the midwest where the weather is drastically different from day to day, and you have to plan ahead several hours in case it changes again. Last winter, while visiting home over Christmas, I took the dog snowshoeing in the woods. When I left, it was an astounding 35 degrees(f), which is remarkably warm and generous for that time of the year. After tromping through the woods for two hours, I came home, noticing it was a bit more chilly now. Checking the temperature, I found it had dropped about 40 degrees, down to -5(f).
But days like those are a novelty. You get one or two a year and then you have something to complain about the rest of the winter.
Out here, we're not even getting a change. It's still the same, sunny sky and steady temperature. It kinda feels like the movie "Groundhog's Day", where you keep living the same day again and again and again...
There's no color change on the trees (where trees are to be found). We don't get to have to bundle in warm, comfy jackets and hoodies. There's no smell of dead leaves, or wetness. GOD! The smell of rain! I haven't smelled rain since...I can't even remember.
Okay. I'm ending this.
Here's some pictures for you, celebrating what I consider to be the most wonderful time of the year. Enjoy these while I slather on sunscreen and don my over-sized sunglasses to hide my tears...
