*Watercolor*2008*

This seems to be a hybrid of my recent "trees" paintings.
They're either an assortment of brush and leaves, or focusing on the lines created by trees. I didn't intend to make it look so...divided? I dunno....This painting confuses me.

i like the surreal feeling given by juxtaposing the two planes, with the trees in the foregrount, at what seems to be a normal size, and the white, almost ghostly silhouettes of the very tall, white trees in the back. an intriguing, yet beautifully colored painting.

oh my god this is stupendous. Watercolors and its hard to say if its controlled or not. The trees in the foreground are detailed and beautifully separate, but they're filled in like you painted on water. Its beautiful and intriguing for me because I'm trying to figure out just how you did it.

:D thanks!

Like a lot of watercolors, this is a series of layers.

The first layer was very washy, letting the paint bleed. I threw some salt on too, which made the little "sunburst" effect that now looks like leaves.

Once that dried, I just went in and painted the darker parts.

sounds simple enough :slow:

See where you did that, now. Good layering of techniques.

This is really beautiful! I've always admired watercolor artists. I can do well with oils but never could get the hang of watercolors.

aha! I'm afraid I could never get the hang of oils. It's a completely different mindset, technically. (whaddya mean I can't use the paint after it's dried?!)

Thank you for the comment :slow:

I see trees (in the foreground) and the spirits of trees (in the background). I like how you reate the trees from the unpainted spaces...it gives them an unearthly mystical look to them :3
